My Top 5 Favorite Podcasts

Wondering how you can be more productive without actually having to do more work? Well, I highly recommend listening to podcasts run by other bosses and bosses of color. I find that they are motivational and inspirational because the content is developed and delivered by amazing hosts I can relate to! These are my top 5 podcasts that every woman in business should know (in no particular order):

1. Ellevate Podcast: Conversations with Women Changing the Face of Business

This is a phenomenal interview-style podcast hosted by the Ellevate Network. On the weekly podcast, they interview women who are business leaders, entrepreneurs, authors, and more. You’ll leave inspired by their path and intrigued by the projects they currently have in the works. Check out the new episodes every Tuesday on iTunes & Spotify.

2. Side Hustle Pro Podcast by Nicaila Matthew Okome

This is yet another interview-style podcast that will leave you feeling like you’re ready to go take on the world. Fun fact: listening to the stories of the interviewees on Side Hustle Pro actually inspired me to take the leap and form Full-Time Glow in 2018. The host of Side Hustle Pro is an MBA, and like many of us she got her start while she was still on the corporate grind. Her podcast interviews women who have taken their businesses from side hustles to profitable six and seven-figure entities. The interviews are incredibly detailed and get into the specific steps that they took and hard lessons that they have learned along the way. New episodes are available every Wednesday.

3. PROFITBO$$ Radio by Hilary Hendershott

Can you guess? Yes, this is another interview-style podcast. The host Hilary Hendershott is so relatable that she makes financial planning seem a lot less intimidating. Hilary made her way to wealth management only after hitting her financial rock bottom earlier in her career. She now interviews different industry leaders, entrepreneurs and the like to share their stories and advice on how they were able to attain financial freedom and build wealth. Tune in for new episodes every Tuesday on iTunes and iHeartRadio.

4. iChoose The Ladder by Watchen Nyanue

If you are in need of some career inspo, this is the podcast for you. Host Watchen Nyanue unpacks the keys to corporate success through a series of interviews with black women leaders from Fortune 500 companies and large non-profit organizations. She also provides great business advise to help women at all levels of their career including how to manage up and preparing for your end of year review. Check it out and tune in for new episodes every two weeks on iTunes and Spotify.

Ever thought about what advice you would’ve given to your younger self? This podcast gives the real, authentic, career advice that we all would have loved to hear when we were starting out or transitioning into management. Sara Holtz interviews her guests around specific topics that many of us struggle with including body language communication and designing your career. The episodes are short and to the point every other Tuesday on iTunes, Google Play, and Android.

I am a firm believer that your professional development is your job! None of us should rely solely on our manager or employer to contribute to our ongoing development because in most cases the needs of the organization will be the number one priority. Podcasts are a really accessible way for you to be educated on and inspired by different subject areas that can benefit you within and outside of work. Check out the podcasts above, and if you have others to suggest please share!

Onward!
